Assam Govt Relieves Dr Mridu Paban Nath From Service

The government of Assam has officially relieved Dr. Mridu Paban Nath from his position at the Diphu Medical College, citing unauthorized absence and violations of state service regulations. According to an order issued by the Medical Education and Research Department, Dr. Nath, who served as an associate professor in the department of Anaesthesiology, had been absent from his official duties since May 1, 2024.

Reports indicate that during his period of unauthorized absence, Dr. Nath had allegedly taken on a role as the Chief Executive Officer at Hayat Hospital, a private healthcare institution. The state department initiated the action after determining that his engagement with the private sector while still officially employed by the government constituted a breach of service rules.

This administrative action highlights the ongoing efforts by the Assam government to enforce strict attendance and conduct policies within its state-run medical institutions. Dr. Nath has not yet issued a public statement regarding the department's decision or the allegations of dual employment.
