Chhota Rajan convicted: CBI court awards 7-year jail term in fake passport case

According to Zee News, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Chennai has sentenced underworld figure Chhota Rajan to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of ₹55,000 in connection with a case involving the procurement of a passport under a false identity.

The conviction centers on allegations that Rajan, whose real name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, used forged documents to obtain a passport while evading law enforcement authorities. This case is one of several legal proceedings initiated against him following his deportation to India in 2015. The prosecution argued that the acquisition of the passport under a fraudulent name was a deliberate attempt to obstruct justice and facilitate his movement across international borders.
