CM विजय का AI वीडियो बनाकर ठगी की कोशिश:लोगों से वॉट्सएप पर जुड़ने को कहा, पाकिस्तान से जुड़े फेसबुक अकाउंट भी मिले; FIR

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the Tamil Nadu police's CB-CID unit has launched an investigation into a series of AI-generated deepfake videos targeting the state's Chief Minister. The fraudulent videos, which surfaced recently, feature a person resembling the Chief Minister soliciting financial contributions via WhatsApp. Authorities registered a formal case on September 1 to address the growing concern of digital impersonation used for financial fraud.

Preliminary investigations indicate that these videos were disseminated across various social media platforms, including Facebook. Investigators are currently working to trace the origin of the content and have reached out to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to obtain logs and data related to the accounts involved in uploading and sharing the material. The police are also examining potential links to overseas accounts, with initial findings suggesting that some of the digital infrastructure used to host and spread the fake content may be operated from Pakistan.

This incident highlights the increasing challenge posed by sophisticated AI tools in the realm of cybercrime. The CB-CID is currently analyzing multiple versions of the deepfake videos to determine the extent of the campaign and identify the individuals responsible for their creation and distribution. As the investigation continues, officials are urging the public to remain vigilant against unsolicited requests for financial aid appearing on social media, emphasizing that official government communications are not conducted through such channels.
