According to reports from Sangbad Pratidin, the West Bengal government is moving forward with the implementation of the 'One Nation, One Student ID' initiative, known as the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR). This system aims to provide students from pre-primary to higher education with a single, unique identification number to manage all academic records, marksheets, and certificates digitally.

The initiative is part of a broader national effort under the National Education Policy 2020, designed to streamline the tracking of student progress and academic achievements across the country. By consolidating records into a centralized digital format, the government intends to reduce administrative hurdles for students transferring between institutions or applying for higher education and employment opportunities.

While the rollout involves integrating state-level databases with the national framework, officials emphasize that the system is intended to simplify access to educational credentials. The move marks a significant shift toward digital governance in the state's education sector, aiming to ensure that a student's entire academic history remains accessible through a single, secure digital identity.
