According to a report by TV9 Kannada, the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) of the Halebidu police station in Hassan district, Karnataka, has been arrested by the Lokayukta police in a corruption sting. The officer, identified as Manjunath, was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe.

Authorities state that the officer had demanded a payment of ₹1 lakh to settle a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) case. The arrest occurred as the officer was in the process of accepting an initial installment of ₹20,000. The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Lokayukta inspectors Shilpa and Gaviraju.

The Lokayukta, Karnataka's anti-corruption ombudsman, frequently conducts such sting operations to address allegations of bribery within state departments. Following the arrest, the accused officer has been taken into custody for further questioning and processing in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act.
