India questions OIC's role after Kashmir remarks at UN Security Council

According to Zee News, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, P. Harish, challenged the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during an Open Debate at the UN Security Council on Thursday. The session, focused on strengthening mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes, saw India respond to remarks made by Pakistan regarding the Kashmir region. India has consistently maintained that the OIC lacks the locus standi to comment on matters concerning India's internal affairs.

This diplomatic exchange follows a long-standing pattern of friction between the two nations at international forums. Pakistan frequently utilizes platforms such as the UN Security Council to raise the issue of Kashmir, while India routinely rejects these interventions, characterizing them as attempts to internationalize a bilateral dispute.
