According to a report by Polimer News, the Indian government has announced a significant change to international travel procedures, effective September 1. Passengers departing from India to foreign destinations will no longer be required to have an immigration stamp placed on their physical boarding passes. The directive aims to streamline the departure process and reduce administrative friction at international airports.

Under the new guidelines, travelers may use e-boarding passes stored on their smartphones to facilitate their journey. Passengers who prefer to carry physical boarding passes will still be permitted to do so, and these will remain valid for travel as per standard procedures. The government has reportedly issued instructions to all international airport authorities to implement this change, citing issues with the current manual stamping process, which has occasionally led to confusion and delays during boarding checks.

This policy shift is part of a broader effort to digitize and modernize airport operations across India. By moving away from mandatory physical stamping, authorities hope to improve the efficiency of security and boarding protocols. Travelers are advised to ensure their digital or physical documents are readily accessible to avoid any potential inconvenience during the transition period.
