According to a report from the Maharashtra Times, officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a significant raid in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, targeting the illegal storage and distribution of prohibited tobacco products. The operation, led by FDA official Tukaram Mundhe, resulted in the seizure of banned gutkha valued at approximately 30 lakh rupees.

The raid involved a late-night search of a residential property belonging to three brothers, where authorities uncovered a secret warehouse used to store the contraband. Following the discovery, the FDA has registered a formal case against the three individuals and their associated suppliers involved in the distribution network.

This action is part of ongoing efforts by state authorities to curb the illegal trade of gutkha, which remains banned across Maharashtra due to health concerns. The FDA continues to monitor supply chains in the region to prevent the circulation of these prohibited substances. Further investigations are underway to identify the broader network of suppliers linked to this seizure.
