According to Vartha Bharati, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey conducted an inspection of various areas across the city on Friday to assess sanitation standards and waste management practices. The inspection focused on identifying 'black spots' where waste is frequently dumped, as well as reviewing the efficiency of current garbage collection and disposal systems.

During the visit, Commissioner Pandey toured several key locations, including Shivaram Karanth Road, K.S. Rao Road, the Lady Goschen area, and the Central Market. Officials from the health department accompanied the Commissioner, providing briefings on the city's ongoing waste management protocols and street cleaning procedures. The Commissioner engaged directly with sanitation staff to discuss operational challenges and improvements to the current cleaning methods.

As part of the directive, the Commissioner emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of cleanliness standards in commercial zones. He instructed business owners, including hotel and shop operators, to ensure that dustbins are installed at their premises. Furthermore, the Commissioner called for the immediate clearance of construction debris and the removal of temporary encroachments on footpaths. To deter illegal dumping at identified black spots, authorities are considering the installation of CCTV surveillance cameras to monitor and maintain public hygiene in these areas.
