According to News7 Tamil, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has formally called for a resolution to be passed in the state legislative assembly to advocate for a caste-based census. Stalin emphasized that such an exercise is essential to ensure the rights and representation of Other Backward Classes (OBC) are protected and accurately reflected in government policy.

The Chief Minister argued that a comprehensive, caste-wise population count is necessary to eliminate discrepancies and ensure that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. By pushing for this resolution, the state government aims to exert pressure on the central administration to conduct a detailed enumeration that accounts for the socio-economic status of various communities across the country.

This call aligns with the long-standing political stance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, which has consistently championed social justice and reservation-based equity.
