Odisha Police to have three new departments: DGP YB Khurania

According to Kalinga TV, the Odisha Police department is set to undergo a significant organizational expansion with the creation of three new specialized wings. Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania announced the development on Wednesday, outlining plans to establish an Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), an Anti-Narcotics Task Force, and a dedicated Road Safety Wing.

The proposed Anti-Terrorist Squad is intended to bolster the state's capacity to monitor and preempt terrorist activities. DGP Khurania noted that specialized commandos are currently undergoing rigorous training to staff this unit. The initiative reflects a broader effort by the state administration to modernize law enforcement capabilities and address emerging security challenges.

In addition to the counter-terrorism measures, the new Anti-Narcotics Task Force will focus on curbing the growing issue of drug trafficking within the region. The Road Safety Wing is expected to streamline traffic management and improve enforcement of road safety regulations across the state.
