Odisha Teachers’ Agitation Put on Hold

According to Kalinga TV, the Odisha School College Teachers and Employees Coordination Committee has decided to temporarily suspend its ongoing agitation at Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. The protest, which began on August 16, involved thousands of educators from across the state demanding government action on an eight-point charter of demands.

The committee's primary grievances include the implementation of a grant-in-aid system, the provision of pension benefits for retired staff, and the urgent filling of numerous vacant teaching positions within the state's school and college infrastructure. These issues have been a point of contention between the teaching community and the state government for an extended period.

While the agitation has been put on hold, the committee has indicated that the suspension is a tactical decision as they await further dialogue with state authorities. The protest had previously drawn significant attention due to the large number of participants gathered at the state capital's designated protest site.
