According to TV9 Gujarati, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Ahmedabad has arrested the city's Chief Fire Officer, Amit Dongre, along with an alleged intermediary identified as Bhavsinh Jhala. The officials were reportedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 36,000.

The arrest follows allegations that the bribe was solicited in exchange for the approval of Fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for six different buildings. The NOC process is a mandatory safety requirement for commercial and residential structures, and the solicitation of funds to expedite or bypass these safety protocols is a serious breach of public trust.

Corruption cases involving municipal safety departments are a matter of significant public interest in India, as they directly impact building safety standards and urban fire preparedness.
