According to a report by Sambad, local authorities in Nuagada block, Odisha, have conducted a raid on an unauthorized warehouse near Khajuripada junction following reports of significant irregularities in the distribution of mid-day meal rice. Officials from the supply department discovered that out of 3,086 bags of rice officially accounted for, only 1,552 were present, indicating that 1,534 bags were missing.

The investigation suggests that the agency contracted for the transportation of the food supplies had been offloading the goods at an unauthorized location instead of delivering them directly to the designated schools. It is alleged that the bags were being tampered with, with several kilograms of rice removed from each before the remaining stock was moved elsewhere.

In response to the findings, the local administration has sealed the warehouse. The Sub-Collector has ordered the filing of a formal case against the involved agency and directed that appropriate legal action be taken to address the misappropriation of the school meal supplies. The incident has raised concerns regarding the oversight of public distribution systems intended for student nutrition in the region.
