Sambha SSP calls on village defence guards to help fortify security at border areas

According to Greater Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anuj Kumar of the Samba district in Jammu has initiated a series of meetings with Village Defence Guard (VDG) members to enhance border security. The outreach, conducted at a Border Police Post and in the Chilla Danga area, aims to integrate civilian volunteers into the local security grid through joint patrolling and the establishment of new checkpoints.

VDGs serve as armed civilian volunteers tasked with assisting security forces in monitoring vulnerable and border regions. During the sessions, SSP Kumar emphasized the importance of community participation in identifying and preventing the activities of anti-national or anti-social elements. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen police-public relations and maintain peace in the sensitive border district.
