Saudi customs foils attempt to smuggle 36,773 amphetamine pills

According to the Saudi Gazette, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 36,773 amphetamine pills at the Al Hadithah border crossing. The illicit cargo was discovered during routine security screenings of a bus entering the Kingdom, with the narcotics found concealed within a specially modified compartment beneath the vehicle.

ZATCA spokesperson Hammoud Al-Harbi confirmed the seizure, noting that the operation was the result of advanced security technologies and rigorous inspection protocols. The authority emphasized its ongoing commitment to border security and the protection of public health, working in close coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to mitigate the flow of illegal substances into the country.

In response to the incident, ZATCA has reiterated its call for public cooperation in maintaining national security. Officials have encouraged citizens and residents to report any suspicious smuggling activities via the dedicated security hotline at 1910, through email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or by contacting the international support line at +966 11 910. The authority maintains a policy of strict confidentiality for all reports and offers financial incentives for information that leads to the successful verification and prevention of smuggling operations.
