According to a report by TV9 Kannada, a 28-year-old woman from Nagpur has allegedly fallen victim to a human trafficking scheme orchestrated by a Pune-based consultancy. The victim reportedly contacted the firm, identified as 'We Migrate,' via Instagram last month after seeing an advertisement for overseas employment opportunities. The agency allegedly promised her a position as a cashier in Portugal with a monthly salary of 1.5 lakh rupees and an eight-hour workday.

The victim claims that after paying the agency approximately 11 lakh rupees in fees, she was sent to Portugal under the guise of employment. Upon arrival, however, she was reportedly handed over to the owner of a local beer shop, where she was allegedly forced to work under exploitative conditions. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding the operations of recruitment agencies targeting job seekers with promises of high-paying roles in Europe.

Authorities have been alerted to the situation, which highlights the ongoing risks associated with unregulated overseas recruitment practices. Such cases often involve victims being stripped of their travel documents or coerced into labor to recover the costs of their migration. As of now, investigations into the specific claims against the Pune-based consultancy are expected to proceed as the victim seeks legal recourse and assistance to return to India.
